Manila, September 3, 2021 — YouthWorks PH, a private sector-led initiative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), launched a new partnership with Yes Pinoy Foundation, an organization founded by renowned actor and youth advocate Dingdong Dantes, to provide training and job opportunities for youth.
The partnership will expand training and job opportunities for youth in the courier industry, one of the few economic sectors that has seen growth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yes Pinoy Foundation – through tech solutions and courier service company DingDong PH – and YouthWorks PH will work together to set up a Delivery Service Riders Training Program, which will help professionalize the sector.
The program will also be registered with the Regional Industry Board of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). With this, the program will be added to the list of existing TESDA-approved industries which offer training positions for youth, such as construction, energy, food processing, and cookery.
This partnership “takes advantage of the substantial growth of courier services since last year and provides the opportunity to professionalize the industry. We can provide youth with increased access to employment in one of the few growth sectors during the pandemic,” said Sean Callahan, USAID Philippines Acting Mission Director.
“Times continue to be tough, especially for youth. This partnership ensures that our youth are enabled and empowered to lead productive lives and contribute to nation-building. We are delighted that we are able to expand our network of partners and include YES Pinoy Foundation in our push for initiatives that will benefit Filipino youth,” added PBEd Executive Director and YouthWorks PH Chief of Party Love Basillote.
