The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Study (YES) provides scholarships for students from countries with a high Muslim population to attend up to one academic year in the U.S.  The program was established by Congress in response to the events of September 11, 2001. Approximately 900 students travel to the U.S each year from over 40 countries. They attend high school while living with host families in order to be immersed in American society. The students also help educate Americans about their own cultures and values.  https://www.yesprograms.org/countries/philippines
