Kalibo, Aklan, May 22, 2018 — Deputy Chief of Mission Michael S. Klecheski and Philippine Dangerous Drugs Board Chairperson Catalino Cuy highlighted the U.S.-Philippine partnership in promoting drug abuse prevention at the 26th Annual National Youth Congress.  The Dangerous Drugs Board’s annual National Youth Congress brings together more than 200 youth leaders from across the Philippines to focus on the important role young people play in community level drug abuse prevention programs.  The National Youth Congress also aims to enhance the role of youth as advocates and leaders in combatting substance abuse.

This conference highlights an important collaboration between the Dangerous Drugs Board, the Provincial Government of Aklan, and the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines to advance youth engagement in substance use prevention.  The National Youth Congress was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.  Other partners include the Philippine National Youth Commission and the National Youth Affairs on Drug Abuse Prevention Education, and several youth organizations nationwide.
