Manila, July 1, 2019 — The U.S. Embassy in the Philippines commends the National Bureau of Investigation-Anti-Organized Crime Division (NBI-AOCD) for the arrests of Irmalyn Melodias-Torres and Gerald Melodias for large-scale illegal recruitment.

NBI-AOCD executed the arrests on June 20 in Quezon City and June 21 in Valenzuela City.  This successful international effort came as a result of the collaboration and deep partnership between the U.S. Embassy Diplomatic Security Service Overseas Criminal Investigations office and their NBI-AOCD counterparts.

The arrests were based on two warrants issued by the Puerto Princesa Regional Trial Court for charges of estafa (fraud) and large-scale illegal recruitment.
