November 17, 2020

Manila, November 17, 2020 — On November 17 and 18, the Philippine Army and U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) will host the 44th annual Indo-Pacific Armies Management Seminar (IPAMS), the largest land forces seminar in the Indo-Pacific region. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 20 countries from across the region will participate in this years’ conference virtually.

IPAMS is a military seminar that provides a forum for senior-level ground forces officers from the Indo-Pacific region to exchange views and ideas, develop strong interpersonal relationships, and strengthen existing bonds.

Also taking place concurrently will be the annual Senior Enlisted Leaders Forum (SELF). SELF is comprised of group discussions and professional development activities directed at senior-enlisted personnel from Indo-Pacific countries.

The theme for this year’s IPAMS is “Addressing Challenges to Indo-Pacific Armies in Urban Environments.” Plenary sessions will feature distinguished guest speakers and lively discussions on the complexities of operating in urban environments, from peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, food/water security, and area rehabilitation, to leader development and achieving success in these challenging situations.

Photos and articles from the seminar will be posted to the official IPAMS/SELF Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/IPAMSandSELF
