The Regional English Language Office is committed to improving English language teaching quality through capacity building initiatives which include curriculum, assessment, and materials development along with teacher training and professional development opportunities for educators. The Office works with Ministries of Education, Departments of Education, and higher education institutes on curriculum development and reform in conjunction with English Language Fellows, English Language Specialists, alumni of U.S.-sponsored programs and other key contacts in the field of teaching and learning English in partnership with pedagogical faculties and institutions.
The Office works through the Public Affairs Sections (PAS) of each country to create and implement projects and programs related to English language teaching by providing training opportunities, expertise, and materials. The Manila Office is one of 25 such offices located in U.S. Embassies around the world that are coordinated by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Office of English Language Programs.
