American Expert in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language, Dr. Donna Brinton, held workshops for local English teachers in Manila and Balanga City from February 20th through March 10th, 2018.
Dr. Brinton, author of several textbooks that are used for training English teachers, worked with public school teachers, university faculty, and students preparing for teaching careers during the three-week program. Among the topics she covered were: Methodologies for Teaching English; Content-Based Instruction; and Student-Centered Learning.
Her program was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and organized by the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines in collaboration with the Departments of Education for the Metro Manila Region and Balanga City. Philippine Normal University and Bataan Peninsula University, where students earn degrees in English Education, also assisted with implementation of the program.
Over three hundred and fifty teachers attended Dr. Brinton’s workshops during the training program.
