Ambassador Goldberg Speaks at Annual Regional Conference of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cebu

Ambassador Philip S. Goldberg accepts a token from senior leaders of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) during the 2014 Conference of the Western Convention of the VFW in Cebu.

The VFW is one of the oldest and largest veteran’s organizations in the United States, and traces its roots to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service.

It is estimated that more than 30,000 U.S. veterans reside in the Philippines, and VFW Post 2585 in Angeles City, Pampanga, is the largest VFW Post located outside the United States.
